CONVERSION OF CHURCHES

SARAH COOKWith improving relations between the Chinese government and Vatican, I imagine that the pope is not as sensitive a figure as he previously was.

MARIA GLORIA MACARAEG MACAPAGAL~ARROYO: The relationship between China and the Philippines is very important for our countries. One reason is geography. Good relations between neighbors is always priority. A second reason is that, China is increasingly involved, not only in bilateral dealings, but collectively, such as through ASEAN. Third reason is that China’s economy is the most dynamic among the neighboring nations. A fourth factor is that domestically, the Philippines has a vibrant Filipino~Chinese community for whom increased business dealings with China is very natural. And fifth, infrastructure will be very important for the Philippines in the coming years. And there is no country in the world that matches China’s recent track record and capability in this area. Going forward, implementation will now be the key to maximizing the benefits of growing economic trade and investment relations between our two countries.

ARTYOM YUKIN: It will be the current big three who dominate, with an informal alliance between Russia and China crucial to reining in American ambitions.
ARTYOM YUKIN: Speaking of historical continuity, in the late nineteenth century Tsarist Russia formed an alliance with republican France to prevent Germany from dominating Europe.
Mundane Work Day is finished in the West I guess.
"Italian Jesuit priest Paolo Dall'Oglio and British journalist John Henry Cantlie remain unaccounted for."

SHIITE FOR BRAINS

Pastor Xiang (pseudonym): We just listen, we cannot speak out loud, we cannot sing out loud, and we cannot gather in outdoor spaces to worship.
DAVID BENTLEY HART: Just as we Americans have succeeded in turning “Christianity” into another name for a system of values almost totally antithetical to those of the Gospel, I have every confidence that we will find a way to turn “socialism” into just another name for late-modern liberal individualism. I still support most of the genuinely communitarian aims of the democratic-socialist movement. But, in the end, it is that tradition of Christian socialism mentioned above to which I remain loyal. And I do not know if it could now flourish here.
DIANA CHANDLER: The multimedia team records a file and distributes it daily.
JOHN ROSS: China’s outperformance of the US in both 2008 and 2020 will see a geopolitical shift in Beijing’s favor. The longer the US continues with its disastrous response, the greater the shift will be. This disastrous US and Western European failure will have profound geopolitical consequences. The geopolitical consequences of this situation are both immediate and long term.
DANIEL GREENFIELD: A majority of white Democrats have ceased to be Christian. Among Democrats as a whole, only 55% identify as Christian. Before long a majority of all Democrats will no longer identify as Christians or as religious believers. America is not entering uncharted territory. It’s following in the footsteps of Europe.

I make all things Old.
THE TIMES OF ISRAEL: State Police on Friday began pulling over drivers with New York plates so that National Guard officials can collect contact information and inform them of a mandatory quarantine.

SANHARAB BARSOUM: In contrast, the future of Christians in North and East Syria if the international community does not intervene to stop the Turkish invasion is bleak.
CBCP NEWS: He expressed hope that the police institution would continue its efforts for moral and spiritual conversion among its ranks.

WILLY LAMCCTV cameras and other surveillance equipment are installed in every church so that the state knows what the pastor or the priest might be talking about in their sermons.
JOHN ROSS: The most fundamental issue was that China started from a real understanding of human rights as they affect the real lives of people ~ not the artificial constructs of Western, purely formal ‘human rights.’ Its strategy was strictly logical once this starting point was understood. The nonsense of the formal Western concept of human rights ~ its subordination of human lives to the economy ~ will be demonstrated to billions of people. This will inevitably produce a geopolitical shift in China’s favor.
