Introducing Vlad Cardema

The first Filipino to my knowledge who has served in the Israeli Defense Forces (I've heard accounts of Filipinim-Israeli soldiers, but his is the first I've encountered documented on the web). Shalem Gin, the first Ben Menashe IDF Officer account is what precipitated the search for Filipino IDF accounts online. Here is Vlad's personal testimony and his MySpace.

Vlad's music ain't bad (I'm really into indigenous instrumentation). I might just invest in a cd of his.

On a related note, besides B'nei Menashe in the IDF, there is an account of Vietnamese Sabras who enlisted into the IDF:

Again, besides Vlad, who is halachically Hudyo, they are the only non-B'nei Menashe East Asians that I know of who have served in the Israeli Military, thus far. Kai Fung Jewry studying at Yeshiva have publicly expressed their interest in serving in the IDF, besides other interesting tidbits their burgeoning community is undertaking.
