"A Dream comes through much Masculine Business" (Ecclesiastes 5:3).
CHRISTOPHER LAMB: Rome can no longer see itself, and Europe, as at the centre of Christianity. But this requires a new mentality. The Pope’s choice of
Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle to lead the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples is a bold decision aimed at solidifying his legacy of putting the Church into a permanent state of mission, with eyes firmly set on the East. The choice of a cardinal from the Philippines, who is a student of Vatican II, to lead the Vatican's evangelisation department tries to put this vision into reality. The Pope believes the Church’s future rests on sowing the seeds of the gospel in the East.
DA MO, Translated by Charlie Li: To achieve the goal of evangelization, Christians generally adopt three methods: one is to preach the gospel by word of mouth, the other aims to influence people around them by words and deeds, and the last one is targeted at spreading the gospel through culture, such as distributing leaflets, writing books and establishing studies, creating various artistic products (movies and songs), etc.
Kelly Ng: Asia will house some 389,000,000 Christians by the middle of 2022, representing about 15% of the global Christian population. By 2050, the proportion will go up to about 17%.
DAVID ARMSTRONG: My hope for Christian communities in Asia is that their experience will be one more like their premodern forbears: one defined by dialogue, sharing, and, yes, rich syncretism between Christianity and its new-old intellectual environments—in spiritual ecosystems still inhabited by brahmanic deities, bodhisattvas, immortal sages, magic, and folk religion (but also, more recently, by atheistic secularism).
12th chapter of Didascalia Apostolorum: And for the presbyters let there be assigned a place in the eastern part of the house; and let the bishop's throne be set in their midst, and let the presbyters sit with him. And again, let the lay men sit in another part of the house toward the east. For so it should be, that in the eastern part of the house the presbyters sit with the bishops, and next the lay men, and then the women that when you stand up to pray, the rulers may stand first, and after them the lay men, and then the women also. For it is required that you pray toward the east, as knowing that which is written: Give ye glory to God, who rideth upon the heaven of heavens toward the east [Ps 67.34 LXX].
