"Mashiach will conquer the whole world without firing a gunshot..." ~ Rebbe Nachman
"The legend that on the day of Tisha b'Av, at the very time of the Destruction of the Temple, the Messiah was born, is a key to the understanding of one aspect of the problem of the destruction and the notion of redemption.
For redemption to take place, the repair of the various individual destructions alone is insufficient.
Even if all people of Israel were to return to their land, this would be insufficient for the redemption of the Destruction.
Furthermore, even the building of the Temple in and of itself could not repair that which had been damaged in the course of the generations.
Only the Messiah, who will bring redemption to the world on a higher plane and in a more complete fashion than ever before possible, can undo the Destruction.
Redemption cannot simply be a return to the situation as it previously existed; it must be much more than that, a higher stage.
The reestablishment of a Jewish state, in the sense that it is merely a restoration, is therefore only a small part of the scheme of redemption.
It is only true redemption that can reconstruct the Jewish people, not only as it formerly existed but on an even higher plane.
The redemption of the Jewish people cannot be complete until it is accomplished by a change in the entire world.
Only a redemption that rises above the sufferings of two thousand years, which leads from them to a higher level of existence, can be considered full reparation for the Destruction." ~ "A higher level of existence" –Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz
"Moshiach doesn't have to come the hard way." ~ Rabbi Lazer Brody
"I worry very much that we shouldn't have to suffer terribly, but we are before the coming of Moshiach and therefore suffering will be. According to the Neuvas, two thirds of the world will be destroyed, one third completely and one third in very bad shape and one third will not be destroyed." ~ Moishe'la
"The greatness of Moshiach? Humility! On one hand he will study Torah with Moses and our Forefathers; on the other, with simplest people" [HaYomYom]
Rav Nir Ben Artzi: Moses was 1/2 man and 1/2 angel. Moshiach will be the same. All Jews will also be half each.
“I wanna tell you a little secret, being the one is just like being in love. No one needs to tell you you are in love, you just know it, through and through.” ~ The Oracle, The Matrix
"Just as we find that Moshe Rabbeinu [Moses] ascended to Heaven, body and soul, and remained there for 40 days similary, Moshiach [King Messiah] will, through the help of the Almighty, merit to attain that lofty soul. He will then realize that he is in fact Moshiach [King Messiah], although no one else will be aware of this. This is the secret to which the Zohar alludes, 'Moshiach [King Messiah] will be revealed, yet no one will perceive him'" ~ From Arba Mei'os Shekel Kesef (page 68) written by Rabbi Chaim Vital, pupil of the Arizal

"When you see a Parthian charger tied up to a tomb-stone in the Land of Israel, the hour of the Messiah will be near."
"This is the sign [that the redemption is imminent]: When you see the fall of the King of the East in Damascus, the Eastern Kingdom will fall, and then the Jews will experience salvation, and Moshiach Ben David will arrive, and they [the Jews] will ascend to Jerusalem and enjoy it, as it says [in Tehillim 37:11] But the humble will inherit the land and delight themselves with the abundant peace. May G-d have mercy on us and send us the redeemer speedily in our days, Amen." [as related to Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai by an angel, while he was hiding in the cave]

"When you see nations warring, look for the footsteps of the Messiah." ~ Bereishit Rabba 42:4
"In the footsteps of the Messiah, arrogance [chutzpah] will increase; prices will rise; grapes will be abundant but wine will be costly; the government will turn into heresy; and there will be no reproach. The meeting place [of scholars] will become a bordello; the Galilee will be destroyed; the highland will lie desolate; the border people will wander from city to city and none will show them compassion; the wisdom of authors will stink; sin‑fearing people will be detested; truth will be missing; young men will humiliate the elderly; the elderly will stand while the young sit; sons will revile their fathers; daughters will strike their mothers, brides will strike their mothers‑in‑law; and a man's enemies will take over his house. The face of the generation is like the face of a dog! Sons have no shame in front of their fathers; and on whom can one depend? Only upon our father in heaven." ~ Sotah 9:15

"Rav Yaakov Kamenetzky ZT"L says that it is useless and a waste of time to follow news events to show that Mashiah will be coming soon as there is absolutely no way to predict his arrival. This is, according to him, because his arrival must be sudden - and an integral part of Mashiah coming is the suddenness of it all."

"The Gr"a explains that the snake is a hint to Mashiah, who is a descendant of Yishai (King David's father), who is called a "snake" (see Shemuel Bet 17 and Shabbat 55b). Similarly, as is known, נחש is the same gematria as משיח (both are 358 - see Adir Bamarom by the Ramha"l, p. 339). The gestation period of a snake symbolizes the period of numerous and terrible troubles which are said to come before Mashiah, and which are named by Haza"l "The birthpangs of Mashiah", since the verse allegorizes it to birth pangs that precede the birth of a child (Yeshaya 26:18, Yirmiya 30:6; see Sanhedrin 95b and Ketubot 111a)." ~ Yeranen Yaakov
"In the Zohar and later kabbalistic and Hasidic commentaries, the incestuous union of Lot and his daughters (Bereisheet 19: 30-38) is identified as the source of the power of the Yetzer ha-Ra, the Evil Impulse. This leads to the mysterious conclusion that the Mess-iah will descend from the side of evil.
The key concept here is that the Messiah's soul is closest to evil, possessing great intensity. But in the messianic era the evil soul will be transformed, by a process of tikkun—repair or restoration—into the good.
There are various myths portraying the Messiah’s soul as being exiled or impris-oned. One such myth describes it as being held captive in chains by the forces of evil. Not until the chains of the Messiah are broken will the captive soul of the Messiah be set free.
Likewise, there are certain signs that are said to accompany the Messiah, and here even these signs are said to have become lost, suggesting a time so chaotic that even if the Messiah appeared, no one would recognize him.
As long as the Messiah’s soul is being held captive, it cannot de-scend into the body of the Messiah, and therefore prevents the birth and coming of the Messiah." ~ Howard Schwartz, Tree of Souls, Genesis Rabbah 41:5; Zohar 1:109a-112a; No’am Elimelekh, Likutei Shoshanah, p. 101a; Tzidkat ha- Tzaddik, no. 111.
Doreen Ellen Bell-Dotan: David had this duality within him: he was, both, very holy and he was able to be very brutal. And his descendants have that very same quality: to reach the highest levels of holiness and to reach the lowest depths of impurity.
Rabbi Sholom Lipskar: Mashiach can be of the living or Mashiach can be of the dead.
Rashi's explanation of the gemora in Sanhedrin 98b: If Moshiach from those that are living now, for sure he is Rabeynu HaKodesh
Rashi's explanation of the gemora in Sanhedrin 98b: And if he was from those that have already died, he would be like the Desirable Daniel
Rashi: King Messiah is destined to be hidden after he is revealed and to be revealed again.
