Esther and ScheChina

“Esther 5772” is an unforgettable and inspiring Purim celebration with Rabbi Lazer, who despite flu and bronchitis is still broadcasting on this important date of the year, considered tantamount in its power to Yom Kippur.

In the first half of the show, Rabbi Lazer explains how “Esther” is metaphorical to the “Schechina” the Divine Presence. In fact, the word “Esther” comes from the word “concealment”. Esther's appeal to Achashverosh the king on behalf of her people is in essence the Shechina's appeal to The Almighty on behalf of our people today – 5772/2012 – as the wicked enemies also clamor for our destruction. So how can we be happy in such a situation? Rabbi Lazer explains how, together with teaching us the proper Kavanna, or intent, for drinking wine. The music from the first part of the show comes from the Judean Dream album, available at the online store on www.breslev.co.il.
Well into wine and dancing, the second half of the show features the music of Yisrael Dagan. Rabbi Lazer makes a moving prayer over every glass of wine he drinks for every IDF soldier. What was the secret of the military victory back in Shushan, when the Jews wiped out their enemies rather than being wiped out? First, they made serious teshuva. Second, they renewed their acceptance of and commitment to Torah. And third, they rejoiced in Hashem. We don't know what will develop at any moment in our end of the world, but we owe it to each of our soldiers today to give them the same spiritual support that Teshuva, Torah, and love of Hashem provides.
Happy Purim!
