"Gulf Arab leaders Tuesday rallied behind Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud’s call to form a 'Unified Sunni Entity' and ‘move beyond the stage of cooperation and into the stage of unification’ in their ongoing preparations to form a strategic bulwark against their increasingly aggressive rival Persia and Co. The Gulf Cooperation Council thus far includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. They also moved to expand the union earlier this year – opening talks with Morocco and Jordan – aiming to include all eight Sunni Arab monarchies. The call to create a Sunni Superpower comes only one day after officials revealed they want to include Egypt in the potential Nine-member alliance. Abdullah sharply criticized US for ~ I.
