"Rav Yehonoson Eibshitz says since Shechina is in Galus there is protection. However, at the end of Galus, when it is time to return to Eretz Yisrael, Shechina will need to leave Galus and come to E"Y to prepare and facilitate return. During those waning days of Galus, you will be left on your own without protection and terrible tragedies will befall those remaining in Galus. Only then will you realize how fortunate you were to have Shechina with you.
How does R' Eibshitz know that Shechina will return to E"Y before the ingathering? Nitzavim 30:3 says, וְשָׁב וְקִבֶּצְךָ מִכָּל הָעַמִּים."
