you have to make it personal for seminary students, as in, clarify that their espoused purpose is not merely an intellectual exercise in wit and backtalk, but that the consequences for not following through are very real, in the here and now, not just in the afterlife. in india, they title that lesson, karma:

theology academic: went gardening recently. id rather flatten the whole thing with a canon and wrestle with snakes rather than see worms. nature is so overrated.
