Traditionally the Chinese use Lion and Dragon dancers as a symbol of auspiciousness to mark key dates such as Chinese New Year or the grand opening of new business premises. The traditional method of clearing an area is through Auspicious Dancing. There are a number of meanings in this that tie into good Feng Shui:
  • Chasing away negative energies - the sounding of the drums and cymbals will purify an area of negative and stale chi, allowing a fresh start to be made
  • Scaring away evil spirits - the powerful dance and presence of a Lion or Dragon will be sufficient to scare away evil spirits from a premises, ensuring that business is unimpeded and that your efforts are met with success
  • Bringing in auspiciousness - as symbols of strength and good luck, the presence of a Lion or Dragon on an auspicious occasion will bring good luck
It is exactly because of these refreshing, rejuvenating and rewarding qualities that have made the Dragon and Lion Dance such an integral part of Chinese Culture for thousands of years.

You use Lion Dancers or Dragon Dancers If you:
  • want to escape negativity
  • want to receive blessing for your business
  • want a traditional, respected way of clearing a space
  • want to witness a breathtaking spectacle
  • want to bring an auspicious start to a new beginning
The most obvious difference between a Lion and a Dragon is the size, power and presence of the creature. While a Lion requires only two people to bring it to life, a Dragon typically requires a team of fifteen! In fact Dragons requiring over 100 people have been administrated! Use a Dragon when space permits for maximum auspiciousness.

Revered as a sign of auspiciousness, the Dragon bestows good fortune on those it favors. As a sign of how highly the Chinese elevate the Dragon, only their Emperors were allowed to wear the shape of a Dragon on their clothing.

Dragons have mystical powers such as the ability to fly, to grow or shrink in size and to bestow good fortune. The presence of a Dragon Dance frightens away negative spirits that might otherwise cause mischief or calamity and the percussion team will cleanse away negative energy. The holistic proceeding brings in much vibrant Yang energy. Dragons are particularly suitable for large organizations and buildings where it will have room to maneuver to their full effect."
