"And he brought me back by way of the Outer Sanctuary Gate that faces eastward, and it was closed. And the L-rd said to me; This gate shall be closed, it shall not be opened, and no man shall come through it, for the L-rd G-d of Israel comes through it, and it shall be closed. The prince [I permit]-he is a prince; he shall sit therein to eat bread before the L-rd; by the way of the hall of the gate he shall come, and by the same way he shall leave" {Yechezkel 44:1-3}.
"Then he brought me back to the entrance of the House, and behold there was water coming out from under the threshold of the House toward the east, for the House faced eastward, and the water was descending from below, from the right side of the House, from the south of the alter" {Yechezkel 47:1}.
